Car Engine Heat Sensor

An engine uses different types of sensors that include are thermo couples resistance temperature detectors rtds and hall effect sensors.

The sensor works by measuring the temperature that s being given off by the thermostat and or the coolant itself. The sensor measures the temperature provided by the thermostat as well as the coolant itself. The tip of the cts is probably located right next to the engine coolant. The coolant temperature sensor abbreviated as cts in your car is an important device that enables the control unit to give alerts if the engine is overheating or if the temperature within the system is rising for some reason.

The recorded temperature is then sent to the ecu which then adjusts the engine functions accordingly. The ect sensor is usually located somewhere near the engine thermostat. The hottest component of your car is the engine because it s where combustion takes place. Ironically an engine can t and won t function properly if it becomes too hot.

Generally speaking engine sensors are the electro mechanical devices which monitor various engine parameters. The coolant absorbs the heat produced by the combustion in the cylinders and then releases that heat to the atmosphere as it travels through the radiator.
